General travel fund — does anyone do this?

I don't have one specific destination yet. I just want enough money that I can say yes to a trip without putting it on a credit card. Does anyone save toward a general travel fund like that?

I use a separate travel pot because otherwise I end up spending it on boring things. Having the money physically separated makes the goal feel more real.
